World’s Greatest Shave at Duncraig
The World’s Greatest Shave holds an extra-special meaning for St Stephen’s School Duncraig Primary PE Specialist Daniel Parker, and he is encouraging community members to take part.
Daniel’s daughter Flo was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2014 at the age of three.
“Thanks to a privileged medical system and God’s mercy, she is now fit and well. Flo is in her fifth year since treatment finished and her recovery has been very positive,” he said.
“Throughout that treatment period and even beyond, the support for families dealing with blood cancers has been amazing.”
“Fundraising initiatives like the Greatest Shave helped our family through a difficult time of our lives. We are extremely grateful to all of the selfless people who have generously given to this cause.”
Hair can be shaved, cut, coloured or have a wig added to it to support the St Stephen’s School event at the Duncraig campus on Thursday April 1.
Students who are keen to have their hair shaved or cut can register online with parental permission by emailing daniel.parker@ststephens.wa.edu.au and start fundraising.
If they’re not up for a haircut, students can colour their hair at home (with parents’ permission) or bring in a wig to wear on the day along with a donation to support the cause.
Community members (including students, staff and parents) can donate or register as participants via the St Stephen’s Duncraig World’s Greatest Shave team page.
Mr Parker admits is may be hard this year, with the ongoing impact of COVID and bushfires, to gain as much support for the cause as in previous years.
“I am fully aware that there are many worthwhile causes to support, so please do not feel any obligation, but of course we welcome your support if you are willing and able,” he said.
