St Stephen’s School brings nursery rhymes to life at Little Feet Festival!
St Stephen’s School recently joined families and young adventurers at the City of Joondalup’s Little Feet Festival, bringing a world of beloved nursery rhymes to life. This popular community event celebrated creativity and play, with our St Stephen’s School Farm activation welcoming children to dig, plant, hunt and play through the stories they know and love. From helping Mary grow her garden to cheering on piggy races, children and families experienced a day full of imagination and laughter—nursery rhyme style!
Our activities reflected the play-based learning approach offered in our early years programs, where children explore the world around them through sensory and imaginative play. In Mary, Mary Quite Contrary’s garden, young gardeners could dig into the hands-on experience of planting “silverbells” and “cockleshells” in cloud dough.
At Little Bo Peep’s Sheep Hunt, families embarked on a playful quest, searching around the farm to find Bo Peep’s lost sheep. This hide-and-seek activity encouraged children’s problem-solving skills and delighted them with the fun of discovery.
This Little Piggy’s Market Adventure introduced children to a world of healthy food choices, as they helped the piggies gather nutritious treats like fruits and veggies from the market—an educational twist on the familiar nursery rhyme!
Meanwhile, our Five Little Ducks Sensory Pond offered a colourful, tactile experience where children could explore a pond filled with colourful rice and rubber ducks. This sensory activity invited little hands to dig, touch and play, enhancing their fine motor skills and engaging their sense of touch while they enjoyed the familiar nursery rhyme in a whole new way.
St Stephen’s School was thrilled to bring these cherished nursery rhymes to life and give families a taste of the creativity and curiosity fostered in our programs. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the City of Joondalup’s Little Feet Festival!
