Congratulations to Duncraig campus siblings, Ethan (Year 7) and Ella (Year 10) Harbison who were both selected to represent Western Australia at the 2024 Australian Track and Field Championships held in Adelaide during the first week of this term!

Ethan threw a season’s best in U13 men’s Javelin, throwing six metres further than his nearest competitor, coming home with the Australian title, a gold medal and new Australian Championship record.

Ethan continued his personal best performance in Discus, finishing fourth, missing out on a podium position by only 18cm. He also came fifth in Australia for Shotput with another personal best performance amongst a strong field.

Ella also proudly represented WA, winning silver in U17’s women’s Javelin, with three WA girls dominating the podium. Ella also threw a personal best in Discus and had a solid performance in Shotput finishing eighth in Australia in both events. Ella was also selected based on her season’s performance and championship results as a reserve for Javelin in the U18 Australian Oceania team.

We’ve heard from Ella’s mum that Ella has also just been invited into the Athletics Australia Target Talent Program Pathway This is a huge honour for Ella, and a fitting acknowledgement of her dedication and athletic ability!

We’re so proud of Ethan and Ella, and we’re quite sure we will have further updates on their incredible athletic careers in the future!
