Term 2 kicked off with a theme of collaboration and innovative thinking, as the doors to the contemporary Multi-Learning Space (MLS) at St Stephen’s School’s Duncraig Campus officially opened this week.

There to help Principal Donella Beare and Chair of Council Kevin Smout cut the ribbon was City of Joondalup Mayor Hon. Albert Jacob.

“This state-of-the-art facility will greatly benefit students, assisting them to achieve their learning outcomes, while also providing additional room for staff planning,” the Mayor said.

“It is a striking piece of architecture, with a modern design blending well with existing buildings, and a vast undercover area will allow flexibility for indoor and outdoor learning.

“It is a precursor for more exciting growth at St Stephen’s School, and the City of Joondalup will work closely with the School on further development works in the future.”

As its name suggests, the MLS will cater for various uses including a Science space for the Duncraig Senior students in the short term and a collaborative, innovative learning area with the opportunity for undercover sports activities for the Primary students in the long term.

Principal Donella Beare was excited not only to open the doors on this highly anticipated project but to be joined by so many of the St Stephen’s School community.

“It was a beautiful morning to officially open the doors to our new Multi-Learning Space, the rain held off, and it was heart-warming to see the enthusiasm and support of so many of our community members,” Mrs Beare said.

“I am looking forward to watching all of our students make the most of this innovative and inspiring space.”

Special thanks go to Kirstie Stewart Architect, Plan E Landscape Architects, Terry Sheppard for the design and construction, the many specialist consultants who were involved in the journey and our School community for their support, patience and excitement
