Interhouse spirit alive and well!
Carramar Primary annual athletics carnival was a day filled with excitement, energy, and camaraderie as students, staff, and parents came together for a celebration of athleticism and House spirit. The event showcased a mix of traditional athletics and fun games, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
The day kicked off with a series of traditional athletics events that tested the endurance, speed, and agility of the students. The intensity of the competition was palpable as each student pushed their limits at the 600m, long jump, hurdle relay and more.
In addition to the traditional athletics, the carnival featured a variety of fun games that added a playful element to the day. The tug-of-war was a crowd favourite, with teams of students digging in their heels and pulling with all their might to drag the opposing team across the line. The excitement was contagious as the rope inched back and forth, with victory hanging in the balance.
The youngest students, from Kindergarten and Pre-primary, had their own set of delightful activities that were just as competitive. The teddy bear relay brought out the cuteness factor, as the little ones carefully carried their stuffed companions across the course. The sack race saw them hopping to the finish line with enthusiasm, while the egg and spoon race tested their concentration and balance as they tried to keep their eggs from tumbling to the ground.
As the day drew to a close, the excitement reached a fever pitch with the much-anticipated staff relay and parents’ race. The parents’ race was fiercely competitive with mums and dads taking to the track as their children cheered them on. The pride in the students’ faces as they watched their parents compete was a heartwarming sight, and the sense of community was stronger than ever.
After tallying the points from all the events, it was Makaria that emerged victorious, earning the coveted title of athletics champions for the year. The captains of Makaria proudly accepted their trophy, their faces beaming with pride as they celebrated their hard-earned victory.
It should also be noted that over the course of the day, 11 St Stephen’s School Carramar records were broken, showcasing the incredible talent and determination of the students. A special mention goes to Callum Hoggart, a Year 6 student, who now holds an astounding 12 St Stephen’s School Carramar Athletics records from his time in the Primary School. This is the highest number of records ever held by a student in the school’s history, marking him as one of the most accomplished young athletes Carramar has ever seen.
The Carramar Primary School athletics carnival was more than just a day of competition; it was a celebration of the school’s spirit, where every student, teacher, and parent played a role in making the day a success. The memories created on this day will surely be cherished by all who participated, reminding everyone of the joy of coming together as a community to celebrate fitness, fun, and friendship.
