A group of very dedicated Year 6 students are the “techsperts” who help our Carramar primary students access laptops and tablets for class every day. Our Semester 1 “techsperts” are Tayamika Banda and Nikita Davis from 6CU, and Jack Knight and Fynn Bradley from 6SLO.

Each student has a trolley of laptops for which they are responsible, and every morning they unlock them and make them available to their fellow students. Come 3.10pm, they gather the trolleys, plug devices in for charging and lock them away. It’s a job they all enjoy.

Nikita told us, “I like that we get to take care of the technology.”

“It’s a lot of responsibility. I like it, though,” said Fynn.

It’s also a good way to stay in contact with the other students.  Jack said, “I enjoy being able to interact with other year groups.”

“Each Wednesday we also make sure we do any system updates as well,” said Tayamika.

“Sometimes there are also broken cables, and we have to report them to our IT teacher, Mrs Crouch,” said Jack.

The “techsperts” take their roles seriously, and have some gentle messages to their fellow students once they’ve finished using a laptop or tablet.

“Please take care and put them back in the trolley properly,” said Nikita.

Tayamika agreed and asked, “Please always plug them back in!”

The role of “techspert” is one common to both Carramar and Duncraig Primary campuses. Keep an eye on social media for an upcoming feature about our Duncraig “techsperts”.
