All her life 2022 Alumni Annelise (Annie) Oxenburgh has been told she’s dramatic but it wasn’t until Year 9 Drama that Annie started honing her skills.

Her teacher Miss Pippa Travaglione recognised her talent and helped Annie to discover her passion for Theatre and the Arts. Annie says that “Miss Trav was instrumental in developing my love for the theatre.”

In 2022 Annie became a Student Ambassador for the Black Swan Theatre Company. Becoming an Ambassador is incredibly competitive with the successful applicant getting to spend a year ‘walking the boards’ of Black Swan Theatre by attending all productions and workshops put on by the Perth institution. Annie has been given the unique honour of becoming the 2023 Tertiary Ambassador for Black Swan Theatre. She continues to enjoy development workshops but her role has also expanded to understanding the social media and marketing arm of the company.

Annie balances her Ambassadorship with full time study at Edith Cowan University where she is majoring in Screen Production and Writing as well as working at the Arts and Culture Trust.

During her time at St Stephen’s School Annie committed herself to pursuing a career in the Arts. She attributes getting so far so early in her career to the great facilities at the School.

“Having a proper theatre means you can put on a professional production like in the real world. I was able to try everything, especially in theatre.”

When asked the one piece of advice she had for current students Annie said,

“Do everything, anything you can get your hands on in the Arts and in the Theatre, just talk to your teacher and get your foot in. Just try everything!”

Miss Oxenburgh’s light is shining brightly, we can’t wait to see how her career progresses.
