A Farm-tastic day at Duncraig Kindy
Duncraig Kindy turned into a barnyard full of goggles and gumboots as students dressed up as farmers for a special visit from Farmer Mick and his animals.
With overalls and straw hats ready, the children were bursting with excitement as Farmer Mick introduced them to his animals. There were fluffy chicks, bouncy baby goats (kids), wooly lambs, cuddly rabbits, a gentle pony and a friendly sheep.
Students had the chance to bottle-feed the lambs and the kids; some were as young as 11 days old. With careful hands and big smiles, they helped give the babies their milk. Then it was time to hold some chicks.
One student giggled as a chicken perched on their hand, declaring “it’s feet are tickly”, a moment that perfectly captured the joy of the day.
Before Farmer Mick headed back to the farm students had the chance to pat and interact with some of the larger animals. From stroking the pony to feeling the woolly coats of the sheep and patting the soft rabbits, the experience sparked endless curiosity and giggles. The lambs and kids had a chance to explore the Kindy Garden too!
A big thank you to Farmer Mick for sharing his animals and making it such a memorable day.
