Teddy bears like to go on morning picnics in the summertime, so they can enjoy the sunshine before it is too hot for their furry selves.
-Abigail Darling

And this is exactly what our Carramar Kindy class did to celebrate one week of full days.

With their favorite teddies in tow, the day began with singing and dancing to much-loved classics like Rock-a-Bye Your Bear, setting the scene for a beautiful day.

Before heading off on their adventure, the children took time to introduce their teddies to the class and help them settle into the room. We discovered quite the collection; everything from Squishmallows to Spiderman and even a hand-knitted Bluey lovingly made by a grandparent.

With their furry friends by their side, the students made their way to Bush School, where nature becomes the ultimate playground. Teddies perched on the picnic rugs as everyone had morning tea. “My teddy likes my crackers,” one student said as another commented that they were being “careful to not get yogurt on my teddy”.

After morning tea, it was time for the usual Bush School fun; climbing trees, building with sticks and exploring the natural world.

When asked what they loved most about the day, Axel and Vicky didn’t hesitate, enthusiastically declaring their favourite part was… “everything!”.

Throughout the day, the teddies weren’t just along for the ride, they were part of the play. Experiences like these reflect our Early Years philosophy of play-based learning, where imagination and nature go hand in hand. As Dr Scott Sampson reminds us Nature is a child’s best playground”.

With tired legs and a few well-loved bears ready for a wash, it was clear this beary special day is one our Kindy friends won’t forget any time soon.
