Propelling leadership

Not everyone is a born leader but our Carramar Year 11s will be able to hone their leadership skills through the new Propel Program launched this Term.

Driven by the metaphor of a propeller that causes forward movement, the Propel Program will equip students with the tools to become authentic and effective leaders in our School community through the values of growth, leadership and service.

Applications for the Program opened at the start of Term 2 and selected students will start the series of Leadership seminars in Week 5 during Homeroom, Recess and Education Plus periods. Topics covered include public speaking, negotiation skills, resolving conflict, group dynamics and project management.

Students will work in groups to put their skills into practice around social justice activities like the UnitingCare West Winter Sock Appeal and a variety of fundraising events.

These practical experiences will allow students to explore who they are as leaders, build on their strengths and identify how to take on greater responsibility.
