Class for parents on spotting danger signs

Clinical experts and counsellors will discuss stress, depression and the link to self-harm in teenagers at a community seminar coordinated by St Stephen's School Carramar on Tuesday 3 April 2012.

The parent-only forum, held in the Primary School Forum at Carramar will cover such topics as protective and risk behaviours, warning signs and prevention. Speakers include a Director of Emergency Medicine, Psychologists, Family Counsellors, a Bereavement Outreach expert and a Church Minister.

"It is about breaking the stigma of depression and creating a support network for parens as well as creating awareness," School Psychologist Claire Handley said.

The Forum will run from 7.00 - 8.30 pm at St Stephen's School Carramar, 50 St Stephens Crescent, Tapping. Children are not permitted. Support service information will be available. RSVP essential to Pam Doust at 9306 7100 by 1st April 2012.
