Science careers in focus

St Stephen's School Year 12 student Curtis Dickson sampled University life during the National Youth Science Forum at the Australian National University in Canberra earlier this year.

Curtis is among 18 West Australian pupils chosen for the forum after a rigorous assessment process by Rotary International, including two interviews and an impromptu speech.

The Duncraig campus student was keen to experience science at University level before embarking on his own studies in 2013. "I am hoping to complete a Bachelor of Science at UWA majoring in engineering and environmental science." The forum included laboratory visits, seminars and training in time management, interview skills and public speaking.

WACE Results Duncraig campus 2011

The St Stephen's School community is very encouraged by the continuing achievements of our students. Our congratuations go to all our students who have achieved so well, including their families and teachers who have encouraged and nurtured them through many years of schooling. The significant achievement of so many students bears witness to the nature of the St Stephen's School community in which we seek to "Serve God and serve one another", as very rarely does one achieve in isolation from the support and care of peers, parents and teachers.

Excellence is something that we encourage all our students to strive for, not merely that they might enjoy the accolades of others but that they might in turn be excellent for and towards others. May God bless our graduating class of 2011 as they contribute to the wider Australian community through further education or employment in 2012.

Mr Tony George

Principal
