Indonesian Market Day
The
Primary schools at both Duncraig and Carramar campuses
experienced Indonesian culture at first hand through a wonderful
Indonesian Market Day. They watched and participated in
Indonesian activities and shared in an authentic market day
atmosphere.
Students and staff dressed in Indonesian clothes and wandered through the school's forum which was transformed into the market place. Indonesian dancers, shadow puppets, musical instruments and other activities made the students aware of much of our close neighbour's culture. The students bartered with rupiahs, carried fruit on their heads, played angklungs (bamboo instruments) and congklat games while the enticing spicy smells of Indonesian food wafted throughout the place. Everyone ate Indonesian food for their lunch and, of course, ate with their fingers!
It was a highly successful day, as the result of a huge effort by LOTE staff, students and parents.
Here are some images from the day....these are from Duncraig campus. Some from Carramar campus will follow.
